If your club doesn’t show up in those results, you are handing players, and revenue, to your competitors. Every day.

A digital audit is the starting point. In 30 minutes you can assess your online presence and see exactly where you are losing players. This guide shows you how, pillar by pillar, with a concrete checklist at the end.

Why audit your padel club’s digital presence

Most padel club managers know they “should do something” about digital. But between day-to-day management, court maintenance and running the club, marketing comes last.

The problem is your competitors aren’t sleeping. And in a market where clubs keep multiplying (4,266 courts in France and counting), the difference between a club that fills up and one that struggles is often online visibility.

A digital audit answers one simple question: can potential players in your area find you, and does what they find make them want to book?

It is a diagnosis, not a judgement. And it takes 30 minutes with the tools you already have.

If digital marketing for padel clubs is new to you, we wrote a complete guide on the subject that lays the foundations. This article goes further: it gives you the method to assess where you stand today.

The 5 pillars of a complete digital audit for a padel club

1. Google: your Business profile, local SEO, visibility

The most important pillar. And the one most clubs neglect.

Your Google Business Profile is often the first contact between a potential player and your club. They type “padel [your city]” into Google and land on your profile, or your competitor’s.

Questions to ask yourself:

Is your profile complete? Name, address, phone number, opening hours, website, booking link. If a single field is empty, Google penalises you in the local ranking.

Do you have recent photos? Not the architect’s 3D renders: real photos of your courts, the atmosphere, players in action. Google favours profiles with regularly updated photos.

Do you reply to reviews? 88% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. An unanswered review is a conversation you declined in public.

Warning signs:

→ Fewer than 20 Google reviews → A rating below 4.2/5 → No photos posted for more than 3 months → Incorrect information (hours, number, address)

The quick fix: log in to your Google Business Profile today. Update everything. Add 5 recent photos. Reply to the last 10 reviews. 20 minutes of work for an immediate impact on local visibility.

2. Social media: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, what really counts

A padel club’s social media isn’t an obligation, it is a sales tool. The question isn’t “do we post?” but “does what we post make people want to come and play?”.

Questions to ask yourself:

How often do you post? Fewer than 3 posts a week on Instagram isn’t enough to stay visible in the algorithm. Your followers forget you, and new players can’t find you.

What kind of content do you post? If your Instagram feed is a string of empty courts and tournament flyers, you are missing out. Content that converts shows the experience: spectacular points, groups laughing, coaches at work.

Are your profiles optimised? A clear bio saying what you offer, a booking link in the bio, visible location, opening hours in a highlighted Story.

Warning signs:

→ Fewer than 500 Instagram followers after 6 months → Engagement rate below 2% (likes + comments / followers) → No Reel or short video in the last 30 days → No booking link in the bio

The quick fix: film a 15-second Reel at the club today. A spectacular point, a group lesson, an evening atmosphere. Post it with your location and a booking link in your bio. That is the bare minimum.

3. Your website: performance, conversion, content

Many padel clubs have a website. Few have one that turns visitors into players.

Questions to ask yourself:

Does your site load in under 3 seconds? Beyond that you lose 53% of mobile visitors before they even see your content. Test it on Google PageSpeed Insights, it’s free.

Is the path to booking clear? A visitor should get from your homepage to a booked slot in fewer than 3 clicks. If your booking button is hidden in a sub-menu, you lose players.

Is your content up to date? Last year’s prices, slots that no longer exist, past events on the homepage: it all signals neglect.

Warning signs:

→ Load time over 3 seconds on mobile → No booking button visible without scrolling → No content update for more than 2 months → No proper mobile version

The quick fix: put a “Book a court” button in the first section of your homepage. Big, colourful, impossible to miss. It is the change with the biggest impact on conversions.

4. Online reputation: Google reviews, digital word of mouth

Your online reputation is what people say about your club when you are not in the room. And online, everyone can listen.

Questions to ask yourself:

What do your Google reviews say? Not just the rating, the content. Do players talk about the welcome, the state of the courts, the atmosphere? The recurring themes in your reviews are your public identity.

Are you mentioned elsewhere? Local Facebook groups, padel forums, player WhatsApp groups. Digital word of mouth is powerful: you don’t control it, but you can influence it.

How do you handle negative reviews? A negative review with a professional, empathetic reply inspires more trust than a 5/5 with no reply at all. Future players watch how you react.

Warning signs:

→ More than 3 negative reviews with no reply → Recurring complaints about the same thing (cleanliness, welcome, court condition) → No review posted for more than 2 months (it feels like a “ghost club”)

The quick fix: ask 5 regular members to post a Google review this week. Not fake reviews: genuine feedback. And reply to each one personally.

5. Competitor analysis: what are the clubs around you doing?

A digital audit isn’t done in a vacuum. You need to know what nearby clubs are doing, not to copy them, but to stand out.

Questions to ask yourself:

Which clubs come up when you type “padel + [your city]” into Google? Look at the top 3. What do they do better than you? What don’t they do at all?

What is their social media presence like? How many followers, how often, what kind of content? If a competitor posts 5 Reels a week and you post 1 photo a month, the visibility gap is mechanical.

Do they have things you don’t? Online booking, an optimised Google Business page, a website with reviews, regular video content?

The quick fix: take 15 minutes to analyse the 3 nearest clubs. Write down 3 things they do well that you don’t do yet. That is your immediate improvement roadmap.

The complete checklist to audit your club in 30 minutes

Here is the scorecard. For each point, score yourself from 0 to 2 (0 = not done, 1 = partly done, 2 = optimised). Add it up at the end.

Google (out of 10):

→ Complete, up-to-date Google Business profile → More than 20 reviews, with replies → Rating above 4.2/5 → Recent photos (less than 3 months old) → Your club is in the Maps top 3 for “padel + [city]”

Social media (out of 10):

→ More than 500 Instagram followers → 3+ posts a week → At least 1 Reel or video a week → Optimised bio with a booking link → Engagement rate above 2%

Website (out of 10):

→ Loads in under 3 seconds on mobile → Booking button visible without scrolling → Content updated in the last 2 months → Working mobile version → Pages using the keywords “padel + [city]”

Reputation (out of 6):

→ Every negative review has a reply → At least 1 review posted in the last month → No recurring complaint left without corrective action

Competition (out of 4):

→ You know the 3 most visible competing clubs online → You have identified at least 3 things they do that you don’t

Total score out of 40:

→ 30-40: your digital presence is solid. Fine-tune the details. → 20-29: the foundations are there, but with big gaps. Prioritise the weakest pillars. → 10-19: urgent. Your competitors are taking players from you online every week. → 0-9: start again from scratch. The good news: every action will have a visible impact quickly.

How to read your audit results

A low score isn’t bad news, it is an opportunity. It means every improvement will have a visible, measurable impact.

If Google is your weak spot: start there. It is the channel that delivers the fastest results. An optimised Google profile can win you bookings from the very first week.

If it’s social media: don’t chase perfection. Start by posting 3 pieces a week, filmed on a phone, showing real club life. Consistency beats production quality.

If it’s the website: focus on one change: the booking button. Make it impossible to miss. The rest comes later.

If it’s reputation: run a review campaign this week. Ask your loyal members. Reply to everything.

The principle is not to tackle everything at once. Pick the weakest pillar, give it 2 weeks of focused effort, then move to the next.

The 3 immediate actions after a digital audit

You have done your audit. You have your score. Now what?

Action 1: fix the weakest pillar. If your Google profile is incomplete, sort it out today. If your Instagram is dead, post a Reel tonight. The most urgent action is the one that plugs the biggest hole.

Action 2: set a reminder for 30 days’ time. Redo the scorecard. Compare the scores. Progress is measurable. If your Google score went from 4 to 8, you know it works. If nothing moved, change your approach.

Action 3: share your audit with your team. Your coach, your front desk lead, your community manager (if you have one). Everyone should understand where the club stands digitally, because everyone contributes to the online presence, whether by filming a point or replying to a review.
